African Bloodstone, sometimes called Seftonite, is a chalcedony...a variety of quartz. It is colored green with red spots caused by hematite and other iron oxides. Bloodstone is thought to be a powerful healing stone and blood cleanser.
Another legend of this stone comes from the Middle Ages and claims the "Blood Stone" was formed at the crucifixion of Jesus, when the blood from His wounds fell onto the dark green earth and turned to stone. It is regarded as a gem of noble sacrifice and can offer courage and solace.
Because of this belief, African Bloodstone is often sought by those suffering from various cancers. I created this rosary design to give courage to those who are suffering. As I make each rosary, I add my prayers to yours for healing.
I used 6mm African Bloodstone beads for the Aves, and 8mm for the Paters. Surrounding each Pater is a pair of clear crystal rondelles as well as 4mm clear Swarovski bicones for accents. Each silver link is hand turned by me.
The 1" silver Miraculous Medal rosary center and 2" Crown of Thorns crucifix both have beautiful detail and are made in Italy.
I will include a special laminated prayer card depicting St. Peregrine, the Patron Saint of Cancer Victims. Your rosary will be tucked in a black leatherette rosary pouch and placed in a silver box tied with a bow.
